Sapsed Stevens was formed in 2006 when Nigel Sapsed & Alex Stacey penned a plan to create their own executive search company. The aim of the company was to utilise their 20yrs in the business and crucially give them the flexibility to work with their clients in a way that they’d found difficult when working for larger companies.

Whilst the company would be managed on a commercial basis the backbone of the offer would be to maintain a ‘two way street’ approach to client partnerships. All too often client/recruiter relationships are financially led and not based on commitment and understanding on both sides.

With Nigel’s strong reputation in the licensed trade Sapsed Stevens Ltd began it’s first assignment in February 2006 on behalf of Hardys’ Hanson’s Pub company. Since then Nigel & Alex have successfully completed a number of senior and Board level assignments in listed, private equity funded and independent organisations. In addition they provided a restructuring service for one client involving multiple appointments at middle management level.

Having worked in executive recruitment for ten years introducing many of today’s leading executives to their current roles, Nigel established his own executive search company, Sapsed Stevens, in February 2006.

Nigel has worked closely with many of the leading hospitality players, ranging from the larger pubcos to smaller, family brewers. Clients have included Laurel Pub Co, Spirit Group, Greene King, Hardys & Hansons and Novus Leisure. Outside the pub industry, he has worked with Hilton, Whitbread, and Bourne Leisure - owners of Butlin’s and Warner Holidays.

His former career in hospitality management, running hotels and health clubs, together with his keen insight into people issues has proven invaluable in his career in executive search to date.

Also with ten years experience in recruitment and senior search, Alex has worked in a number of sectors from pubs, bars and restaurants to hospitality, leisure, financial services and business process outsourcing.

Alex has recently formally joined Sapsed Stevens. She has however, been instrumental in the running of the business since its creation.

Her former career was in both recruitment and sales and marketing within the Hospitality and Leisure Industries, prior to moving into recruitment she was the Divisional Sales Director for some of the country’s premier hospitality venues.

Alex brings strengths in process management, organisation and structure; she will be working alongside Nigel to ensure successful completion of each assignment.
